SCHD coordinates its health and human services with other local and state providers to ensure that the community's health and human services needs are met in the event of an emergency, such as a hurricane.

Sarasota County health partners include hospitals, nursing homes/assisted living facilities, hospice, the medical examiner, funeral homes, dialysis centers, pharmacies, and medical laboratories.

Other agencies work with SCHD in the Sarasota Community Organizations Active in Disaster (Sarasota COAD).  Sarasota COAD agencies collaborate to serve vulnerable populations, such as the frail elderly, the physically disabled, those with behavioral and mental health disorders, and at-risk youth and families.
