Healthy Start*Se habla español Healthy Start is a program that screens pregnant women and newborn babies to identify risk factors for low birth weight and infant mortality. Healthy Start is free and available to everyone regardless of income. A team of nurses, social workers, and peer counselors assist families in determining their needs and provide counseling, parenting support, childbirth and breastfeeding education, and smoking cessation services.
